Small Summer Recap

Small Summer Recap

Its been a pretty good summer. Overall feeling more accomplished and energized about the projects I want to see come to light. I’m not gonna lie, that energy is also a bit frightening because the next steps are prioritization, team building, and execution (each step can cause a bottle neck, but I’m game). But what’s a summer recap without apprehension on what’s to come.

Let’s do a quick summer recap:

Had a great family week. Which for some is just another day, but I’m largely a transplant to LA. Its my home now, but my family lives elsewhere. So my mom, sister, and my niece came out to stay for a week. Again this isn’t surprising for others, but next to none of my family makes it out to Los Angeles with any regularity; like at all. So it was big, great, tremendous to have them out here for a week.

Also recently finished up a 6 week workshop with Terry Berland of Terry Berland Casting and it was a much needed experience to take a step back and re-establish the basics of not just commercial work, but acting in general: the skills apply across the board. The 6 weeks with Terry finish up with an agent showcase on the 6th week. I’m happy to announce, that for whatever the agent was looking for I nailed enough to have a meeting coming up with her, so hell yeah!

Also I’ve been catching back up with a few friends of mine in the biz and without any real expectations we’ve pledged a bit of our time to each other on projects. I can’t speak for anyone else, but personally this is sometimes the simple part of the industry that I neglect: work and life can be as simple as our intrapersonal relationships, no agenda. Though that fact is can be hard in an industry where the goal  posts are constantly moving.

With that said this all lead to another meeting with a new writer/director associate who consistently puts pen to pad to script to shoot. That’s kinda what you want out of the others in your professional life, those with ideas and means to accomplish them. I’m excited to see how we can work together going forward.
